Assassin’s Creed Shadows is due out on November 15, but Ubisoft saw fit to give players a taste of the game early through a 13-minute extended walkthrough. The video, which was showcased during Ubisoft Forward, shows off a decent chunk of gameplay that includes more of how the combat works. It also shows off some of the stealth mechanics and plenty of jaw-dropping scenery of the game’s environment.
For players eager to step into the role of Naoe and Yasuke, the extended gameplay walkthrough is a must-watch. It’s also best avoided if you prefer to dive into the game completely blind. The walkthrough doesn’t appear to give out any important story beats, however. So if all you’re worried about is spoilers for the bigger parts of the narrative, it’s safe to watch. That being said, there is a short section that contains a cinematic between Naoe and Yasuke. Luckily, Ubisoft has listed time stamps and sectioned the video off so you can skip past the cinematic segment.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows extended walkthrough reveals Naoe’s stealth mechanics
Naoe is one of the main protagonists in the upcoming game, and so it’s only natural that Ubisoft would want to show off some of her combat mechanics to get players hyped. Nearly four minutes of the gameplay footage is centered around Naoe’s Shinobi stealth, and it’s the largest section of the video. So you get a good idea of how she works in addition to the types of abilities and tools she has at her disposal.
The video opens though with Yasuke exploring the region of Fukuchiyama, followed by some of his combat. Where Naoe can use heavy stealth to take down enemies, Yasuke gets right into the thick of battle using weapons like his Katana, Naginata, or other weapons well-suited to direct combat. In the video, however, you get to see him beat down enemies with a spiked club known as the Kanabō.
The open world is affected by dynamic seasons and weather
Judging from what Ubisoft has shown off so far, the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is vast. Ubisoft discusses more of this world in a developer insight video which it released alongside the extended gameplay walkthrough. In addition to the many points of exploration that players will experience, there will be plenty of secrets and things to uncover that move the game’s progression forward.
The open world will also be “affected by dynamic seasons and weather” according to the game’s Art Director Thierry Dansereau. Most of this video is just Dansereau alongside Game Director Charles Benoit breaking down the extended gameplay walkthrough. It’s worth a watch as well though if you want more insight into the gameplay that was shown. Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on November 15 for PC via Ubisoft Connect, and Ubisoft+ Premium members will be able to play the game through that service.
It’s also being released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, and Amazon Luna.
