For years, phone cameras have doubled as document scanners, and that’s only gotten better as camera tech improved. You’re likely to have a collection of document scans on your phone, and you’re able to view that collection on Google Photos. Well, according to a new report, Google Photos for web will soon show you the Documents view.
Last year, Google introduced the Documents view to the Google Photos app. This is a dedicated tab that stores document scans for easy access. This is a great feature to have if you always want to have your important documents on call. On the Google Photos app, you should see the tab when you go to your Library.
Google Photos for web will soon get the Documents tab
Having the Documents tab on the Google Photos app is great, but many people prefer to access their documents on their computers. It makes sense to access your documents at your workstation. Well, you’ll soon be able to. Users have started to see this feature already.
When on the Google Photos site, you should see the Documents tab on the left side panel. If you don’t, then you can try clicking on this link: photos.google.com/u/0/documents. This should take you right to the section.
In the section, you’ll see all of your documents automatically categorized. You’ll see sections like Screenshots. Books & Magazines, Events, I.D. cards, receipts, etc. The company’s AI will do its best to categorize all of these, documents, but you can’t rule out the occasional misplaced document. If you don’t see this view, then you may just want to wait a couple of days. The feature might not be available in your region just yet.
As an added treat, you’ll be able to search through your documents using the “Ask Google Photos” feature. This is the Gemini-powered search feature that allows you to search through your photos by giving a general description of what you’re looking for. For example, you’ll be able to search for a little bit of text in one of your documents. Google Photos will be able to find the document and surface it.
