A recent Epic Games database leak is pointing to the possibility of a huge list of unannounced games on the way. All of these games are suspected to be coming to the Epic Games Store at some point in the future. Game titles span a wide variety of different publishers, including games from Bethesda, SEGA, Sony, and Square Enix.
The leak was spotted by users on the gaming forum ResetEra and has since been spotted by Wccftech. The information gathered by ResetEra users comes from a third-party tool called EpicDB. The leak, which surfaced on June 11 with EpicDB having pulled data from the Epic Games Store, lists a wide variety of upcoming games. Some of which are listed under their actual titles. Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 4, Sonic Superstars, and God of War Ragnarok are all listed.
The Epic Games database leak might hint at the Final Fantasy IX remake
While the games listed above are all released in some form on one platform or another, there are plenty of games listed under codenames that are reportedly unannounced. One of those is the Final Fantasy IX remake. Square Enix has never confirmed that this game is being made. However, it’s popped up in leaks before. There was an old leak from 2021 revolving around GeForce NOW which hinted at the possibility of Square Enix’s beloved RPG being remade in the same capacity as Final Fantasy VII Remake.
It would be released for modern platforms and potentially make its way to PC at some point. The Final Fantasy IX remake isn’t listed by that exact name in the EpicDB list. However, users suspect it may be a title under the Square Enix section codenamed Momo. There’s also mention of a “momo deluxe upgrade DLC.” This could point to an expansion or an enhanced version of the game with additional in-game items or bonuses.
There are more than a few other codenamed titles as well. Including ones suspected to be PC ports of The Last of Us Part 2, Red Dead Redemption 1, and Bioshock 4.
Third-party tools can no longer surface unpublished titles
While there’s no evidence yet that any of these unreleased games are actually real, Epic isn’t taking chances it seems. It’s now updated the Epic Games Store to prevent third-party tools from surfacing unpublished games. “We released an update tonight so third-party tools can’t surface any new unpublished product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog,” an Epic spokesperson told Wccftech.
