HTC Evo 4G: Leaked Gingerbread ROM Means Something in the Oven
The HTC Evo 4G is definitely Sprint’s flagship phone. Since it’s made by HTC and came out right around the same time as the HTC Droid Incredible, an Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) update was expected by most. So when it was discovered that an official Gingerbread ROM has leaked for the Evo, most people like me weren’t shocked per se, just excited to hear the news that the rather large Evo community will be able to get this update.
When Gingerbread first debuted on the Samsung Nexus S it took a while for it to start to pass on to devices with skins from the manufacturers, but its really starting to flourish now. For those of you keeping score at home, the list of devices that have been or have been announced officially to get Android OS 2.3 are:
Android Smartphones Officially Announced for Gingerbread Updates:
- Samsung Nexus S (obviously)
- HTC Nexus One
- Motorola DROID X
- HTC Droid Incredible
- LG Optimus 2x
While its a rather short list so far, it looks like this week is when most of the OS 2.3 announcements have been coming out. Is your device on the currently short list? Let us know your joy (or frustration) below!
