Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich while great, hasn’t always made it out to relatively new devices in a timely manner. This isn’t necessarily Google’s fault, but manufacturers that tend to have time spread very thin and are working on a number of other projects at any given time. Customers who have the Sony Xperia S can now breath a sigh of relief as Android 4.0 has finally made its way to the device.
At first glance, the update looks quite nice. There are new features such as an updated calendar overview and notifications drop-down menu from the lock screen, and ability to display visuals during playback of music. The settings screen has also been redesigned. Also, two new apps have been added, a new streaming movies app and album app with more of an Android 4.0 look and feel to it.
Sony is saying that the update will be pushed out today, though will be different with some carriers. All in all, the interface looks really solid and users can expect some of the great things of Ice Cream Sandwich such as being able to easily monitor and set limits for data usage, as well as use Google Chrome which syncs with the desktop version so you’ll easily have access to all your bookmarks and browsing history. Here’s a video below talking about all the changes as well as showing off the new update…
