There has been a lot of talk lately about the potential One UI 7 rollout date. It seems that Samsung is taking a bit longer than expected to get it ready. A new report claims that the first One UI 7 beta will arrive in August for the first eligible Galaxy devices.

Previous leaks suggested that the One UI 7 beta would be available starting July 29 (yesterday). However, soon after, new reports surfaced denying the alleged date and adding that Samsung still had some work ahead of it to make the update “usable.” The latest ones came true, but a potential new timeframe for the rollout has emerged.

Samsung may launch One UI 7 beta during the third week of August

According to SamMobile, Samsung will release the first One UI 7 beta sometime during the third week of August. The source also adds that the delay would not only be due to the ongoing work on One UI 7, but also the rollout of One UI 6.1.1. Currently, the latest stable update to Samsung’s custom Android skin is only available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.

So, Samsung would be dividing its efforts between the development of One UI 7 and the rollout of One UI 6.1.1. In the Android industry, Samsung is the company that offers the longest software support to its devices in all ranges. So, there are dozens of phones and tablets waiting to get the One UI 6.1.1 update before even thinking about One UI 7. Meanwhile, One 6.1.1 is expected to start reaching the Galaxy S24 and other flagships soon.

The biggest Galaxy update in years

One UI 7 is becoming one of the most anticipated updates for Galaxy device users. It is said to bring a big UI revamp as well as new features. Flagship phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra could receive a big camera quality boost with the update too. However, some leaked design tweaks have also received backlash, such as the similarity of certain icons to those of iOS.

On the other hand, One 6.1.1 is an intermediate step that brings AI-powered features to more Galaxy devices. Of course, not all device ranges will support all of the Galaxy AI features seen on the S24 series. It’ll be interesting to see which AI features they get and how they perform on phones with less powerful hardware.
