Bad news Motorola Charm and Flipout owners, it appears Motorola used up all its froyo on it’s higher end models. It seems like a lot of Motorola owners are feeling like Milton these days as the froyo update is passed over them to get to the high-end phones like Droid, Droid 2, Droid Incredible, Droid X, etc.
Motorola has released a list of phones that will be receiving updates and unfortunately there’s a lot of 1.5 and 2.1 OS on there that will remain at that level for the remainder of their short lives. Being lower end phones, this shouldn’t be too big of a surprise but it’s still disappointing to see these phones being left so far behind.
It also brings to mind Android’s problem with fragmentation and poses the question as to whether or not Apple was the wiser for only having one phone to update instead of multiple on various carriers.
Any Charm or Flipout owners upset by this? Does this pose a problem for Android fragmentation?
