HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread Update Pushed Back AGAIN

Featured image for HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread Update Pushed Back AGAIN

I hate to be the bearer of bad news fellow Thunderbolt owners, but as per an HTC representative, the Android 2.3(Gingerbread) update has been delayed once again. According to the email below, the update slated to fix all those reboots and deliver some delicious additions including  skype w/ video, netflix, and better battery life has caused a new slew of problems for the handset and just is not ready for release. Heres the email:

Dear Shannon xxxxx

I understand how important it is to have the latest update for your device. Unfortunately, it is the latest update to 2.3 that is creating this to happen. HTC has pulled back this update to keep future customers from receiving the update. We are working on getting this update fixed, when the update is relaunched you will receive a notification on your device. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time frame on when this issue will be resolved. Shannon, we do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 11USCW30ENA002669.

Sincerely,

Samantha

Want to see what others are saying? Have a question to ask other HTC fans?

Now we all know customer service reps are not the most knowledgeable employees out there so there is still some hope. But by the detail of her reply, it sounds like this may be a real issue.

My question is how long ago was this email sent and when did the rep receive the information? Recent rumors have suggested the update was recently in the second phase of testing due to be released very soon. Could she be relaying old info? That is definitely possible. So like always, i recommend taking this very lightly until we hear news from Verizon.
