While smartphones are launched quite often in India, not all of them are of the same sort of quality that we’ve come to expect here in the West. However, Micromax has been a big player in India for a long time now and they’ve become really quite good at delivering quality experiences without the price tag. The Canvas Nitro A310 is their latest and it’s a pretty decent device for the asking price of just RS 12,990. So, just what do you get for that price?
The Canvas Nitro A310 features a 5-inch 1280 x 720p display and under the hood, we’re looking at an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 clocked at 1.7 Ghz with 2GB of RAM. There’s 8GB of expandable storage here, and the 13-megapixel rear-facing camera should be up to taking some pretty decent shots thanks to the Sony IMX135 CMOS sensor with its f/2.2 28mm lens. There’s a 5-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera around the front here and while the Sony IMX135 CMOS sensorCanvas Nitro A310 doesn’t support 4G networks, it does support HSPA+ networks just fine, with a 2,500 mAh powering everything. All-in-all, it’s a fairly standard package on the inside, but for the price things don’t seem too bad at all.
Where Micromax is hoping the Canvas Nitro A310 will stand out is with its design, which borrows a little from Samsung with a faux-leather stitched backing and a simple look to the front of the device. For a 5-inch device, it doesn’t seem to be too big and the device is certainly a classy piece of hardware, with the subtle Micromax branding saved for just the rear of the device, allowing the display and software to stand out. As well as the design of the device, Micromax have added some interesting software on top of Android 4.4.2 here, like Blinkscreen which can show you the time and your notifications on your lockscreen without fully waking up the device.
Right now, the Canvas Nitro A310 is available to order from Snapdeal and should also be available from most places that sell Micromax devices.
