Microsoft has announced that its Xbox Developer_Direct event is coming back for 2024, and the live stream is happening sooner than you think. The event will be taking place on January 18 and begin at 12 PM PT. That’s a Thursday, so you might need to find a way to take a little break when things kick off. You can expect to see updates on upcoming games for the Xbox ecosystem in 2024, including talks with the developers who are making these games. It’ll be an “in-depth look” Xbox says.
In addition to the Xbox Developer_Direct live stream event, Microsoft-owned ZeniMax Online Studios will be showcasing what’s to come for The Elder Scrolls Online in 2024. The ESO live stream will be a global reveal that takes place at 1 PM PT. So expect the whole thing between both showcases to take at least an hour and a half. The ESO live stream will be a separate presentation and may happen on a completely different stream. “Stay tuned to Xbox and Bethesda’s official social channels for more,” the Xbox team says. In short, you’ll probably want to be prepared to bring up a new stream so you don’t miss anything.
That being said, the Developer_Direct may also have information on where to watch the ZeniMax Online Studios stream. In terms of what to expect, ZeniMax Online Studios will be revealing the next major chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online. This will include a look at an all-new zone, as well as a new storyline and additional new features. If you’re a big fan of ESO, you won’t want to miss this. Since the content being revealed is what you’ll be spending your time in Tamriel engaging with upon release.
The Xbox Developer_Direct event will reveal more details on four games
In terms of content for the Xbox live stream, there are four games that viewers will get an in-depth look at. The Indiana Jones game, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Each game will have a significant chunk of time set aside where it will be the focus.
The Indiana Jones game for instance will get over 10 minutes of game and developer insights. MachineGames will reveal the game to the world during this segment of the stream. This will also include details about the game’s story, as well as its setting. So if you’ve been looking forward to this one, definitely make sure to watch the event.
The other games will receive mostly the same treatment. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II seems to be the one that will focus the most on developer insights about the game’s creation. You’ll be able to tune in to the Xbox Developer_Direct on both the Xbox YouTube and Twitch channels.
Don’t expect anything regarding Activision Blizzard games
The Xbox team is pretty clear on this one. The live stream will not include anything on upcoming Activision Blizzard titles. And that seems about right as both Activision and Blizzard tend to show things off at their own events. Xbox says gamers can “look forward to news from those teams later this year.”
Activision’s bigger games like Call of Duty generally show up during specific Activision events like Call of Duty: Next. While Blizzard titles or expansions for its currently existing games are usually shown off during BlizzCon.
