Do you have one of the above mentioned Motorola phones? If you do own a Backflip, Dext, or Quench, I sure hope you like your operating system. You’re going to be using Android 1.5 (Cupcake) on your device as long as you own it.
Motorola recently updated their Android Software Update News page in the Owners Forums. Some phones who were listed as “under evaluation” for an OS upgrade, such as these three models, got some bad news. In particular, only one of their Canadian phones, the Milestone, is getting upgraded (from Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) to 2.2 (Froyo). The other three handsets will be running Cupcake for the “best combined hardware and software experience.”
Given that older schedules showed the Backflip scheduled for a 2.1 upgrade in third quarter of this year, expect to see some very disappointed Moto owners.
