Racing game fans can rejoice with the confirmed arrival of MotoGP 24, which now has an official launch date. The game will be released for multiple platforms including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. It’s even landing on Nintendo Switch, and it’ll launch simultaneously for all platforms.
The game isn’t too far off with MotoGP 24 publisher Milestone announcing that the game arrives in May. MotoGP 23 launched officially in June of 2023, which makes for a pretty quick turnaround. That being said, fans won’t be looking at generational leaps and bounds between the two games. While it will be a new release, visuals will be pretty close to the same thing as before. Which were already very good thanks to their realistic graphics.
The realism of racing a superbike is something that the MotoGP series has always been focused on. So you can expect that MotoGP 24 will carry that torch forward. There will be some new features coming to enhance the gameplay experience from last year’s release too. Including ‘The Riders Market’ and ‘Stewards’ features.
MotoGP 24 has a launch date of May 2
There’s just a month and a half left before you can hop on your bike and start climbing the ladder to become the fastest racer of the season. As the game officially releases on May 2. If you’ve played MotoGP 23 or even MotoGP 22, or really any of the more recent MotoGP games from the past few years, then this will feel familiar to you. However, there are certainly going to be new features added that Milestone thinks will be a huge bump to the gameplay experience.
One of those is the Riders Market. What this does is add lots of new ways for players to switch their riders to new teams. To make things a little more realistic, Milestone has added a social feature where likes and replies to posts on a fictional in-game social network can “fuel rumors” about rider team transfers. It all feels very meta and is exactly the kind of thing that would probably happen in discussions between real MotoGP fans on socials.
The other new feature, the Stewards, is sort of like an authoritative role of people in the game that monitors the races and timed weekend sessions. They can penalize both the real players and AI players should they break the rules. Penalties can include anything from warnings to time penalties so you’ll need to be on your best behavior when on the track.
AI improvements and cross-play
In addition to the new features, Milestone has also improved the game’s AI. Now, the AI can replicate the way a real rider would approach the race. “Former World Champions will leverage their experience, waiting before striking with the winning overtake. Rookies will be out to prove themselves from the off,” Milestone says. As for the physics improvements, the electric tuning system has been revamped to better manage the entry and exit of corners on the track. Tire management has been revamped as well so that all tire compounds perform across various tracks while still feeling “distinct.”
The game will also feature cross-play. However, it won’t work across all platforms. Those who play on PlayStation and Xbox will be able to play with each other. But the PC and Nintendo Switch versions won’t support cross-play, which means they will only be able to play with others who are on the same platform.
