Microsoft is preparing to give an update on the Xbox business in an official podcast happening later this week. The podcast will be hosted by the CEO of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer, Xbox President Sarah Bond, and Microsoft Studios Vice President Matt Booty.
Microsoft doesn’t mention any specifics with regard to what will be discussed. Other than the fact that it will be an update on the Xbox business. But many are speculating on what Spencer and the team have to share. Rumors have been swirling that Microsoft is gearing up to initiate a huge shift in how it takes the future of Xbox forward by releasing some of its first-party games on non-Xbox platforms. In just the past few weeks, it’s been rumored that Microsoft plans to launch a number of popular games on PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
These games included Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and even some titles from the Gears of War franchise. It’s still not clear if some bigger titles like Starfield will make the jump. As those rumors have since been walked back by some who initially shared them. But games like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves still seem very much in the cards. The Verge reports that Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment will be the first two games on the way, with Sea of Thieves planned for sometime in the future. What’s more, is that other games are said to be in consideration as well.
The Xbox business update podcast will happen on February 15
If you’re curious about the podcast and what it entails, it won’t be long before Microsoft shares more details. The podcast will take place on February 15 and it’ll be a livestreamed podcast. Microsoft plans to host it on the official Xbox YouTube channel at 12 P.M. Pacific Standard Time. It’s not stated how long the podcast is but it’ll likely sit somewhere around at least 30 minutes.
Anything shorter seems too short for a roundtable-style show. Back in October, Phil Spencer went onto the podcast to talk about the Activision Blizzard acquisition and that podcast lasted close to 40 minutes. And many of the podcast episodes are much longer, with most of them at around an hour. That’s not to say the podcast this week will be anywhere near that length. But if it’s anything remotely close, that’s plenty of time to have lots of discussions on how Xbox will be doing business going forward.
