One of China’s many OEMs that are looking to make a big splash outside of China, has released a new phone. This one is the OPPO R1, which we’ve seen leaked many times already. This isn’t a crazy high-end device like the OPPO Find 7 is looking to be. But it does have some pretty good specs, considering they are asking about $410 USD for the device. First of all the camera is a 8MP shooter which has a wide aperture. about F/2.0. Looking at other cameras on smartphones, the Nokia Lumia 1020 has an aperture of  F/2.2. And for those of you out there that are into photography, you know that the lower the F number, the more light enters the sensor. So while it seems like the OPPO R1 is going to be pretty good with pictures, we won’t know for sure until we can get one in hand to check out.
As far as the other aspects of the device go, we’ve got a 5-inch 1280×720 resolution IPS display. Giving it about 294 pixels per inch. Powered by a MediaTek MT6582 processor which is clocked at 1.3GHz, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. And as you may have guessed, there’s no microSD card slot on this one. It’s also running Android 4.2.2 – Jelly Bean, along with OPPO’s Color OS on top. Where’s the KitKat OPPO? For those wondering about the front-facing camera, it’s packing a 5MP shooter on the front. It weighs about 140 grams and the dimensions are 142.7 x 70.4 x 7.1mm. So it’s pretty thin. Last but not least, the battery is a 2410mAh battery. So it’s not the largest, but should get the job done.
If you’re interested in the OPPO R1, it’s available now from OPPO’s Chinese Webshop unlocked for about $410 which is 2498 CNY. We’re still wondering if this will be available outside of China, but at this point, it’s tough to tell. Who’s interested in the OPPO R1? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
