Sony’s PS5 ‘Slim’ (PS5 Slim isn’t the official name – it’s still just called a PS5) is finally here and you can buy it right now. In fact it’s currently available in a bundle that comes with a free copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Over the past year Sony’s PS5 refresh has been popping up in leaks. And as it got later in the year it eventually showed up in what turned out to be live images of the real design. Sony then confirmed the console’s existence and made an official announcement about its availability. Well, the time of that availability is today and you can grab it for yourself if you’ve yet to upgrade from the PS4.
Even better is that you can actually purchase one and not have to fight off hordes of bots or scalpers. There was a time when trying to buy a PS5 was nigh impossible but that isn’t the case with the slim model. No, you can add it to your cart, check out and pay for it, then you just need to wait for it to arrive. But where do you buy it? Well, that’s what we’re here to help with.
Where to buy the PS5 ‘Slim’ console refresh
We’d suggest purchasing the PS5 console from Best Buy. The main reason is you can pay for it online and it’ll be ready for pickup at the store. In some cases it might even be ready within the hour. Depending on how close you are to the local Best Buy you ordered from. Purchasing online also secures your purchase. There won’t be any worry about driving down there only to find out that the stock has run out.
By placing an online order, the console is now allocated to you and placed aside. You then drive to the store when it’s ready for pickup and you present them with your order details. And boom. You can then walk out with your shiny new PS5 console. When it comes to differences remember this comes with a slightly shorter and slightly slimmer build. It also has the detachable disc drive that can be removed at any time. Which by the way requires no tools to do.
What do you get when you buy the new PS5 Slim?
Well that depends. Right now it’s available in two different bundles. One that comes with a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and one that comes with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Each bundle is $499 and also comes with a DualSense controller and the horizontal stand. It no longer comes with the stand for setting up the console vertically. You’ll also get the necessary HDMI 2.1 cable and the power cable. Essentially everything you need to get setup and start playing. Short of the TV or monitor of course.
