If you own and use either the Sony Xperia Z1, Zl, or Sony Xperia Tablet Z, Sony just started pushing Android 4.3 out to those three devices just in time for the holidays. We know this isn’t the Android 4.4 kit kat that everyone is hoping for, but hey at least Sony is thinking of its users this Christmas. You should start to begin seeing these updates pop up throughout the day, as well as through this entire week as it will take some time to get the update out to every single user on one of these devices.
There have been lots of enhancements that Sony has added in to 4.3 for anyone who begins to get the OTA, so don’t feel too soured that you’re just now getting it. We think you’ll like the improvements that come along for the ride. The changelog for the update includes many bug fixes and improvements, along with lots of other tweaks and changes including the following as stated by Sony themselves.
Project Butter Performance and UI optimization, along with a smoother graphical experience
Launched with Xperia Z1, we’re now bringing Sony’s Smart Social Camera to these devices – our signature camera experience, that lets you download, access and enjoy “Xperia camera apps” directly from within the viewfinder
We’re also uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions – bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for (to name but a few): Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, Sony Select and…
Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies, withSony Entertainment Network cloud service integration* – a more converged and full Sony entertainment experience – Sony Entertainment Network & PlayMemories integration with a more intuitive UI, offering seamless access to both local and cloud content
The launch of our unique custom interface experience: “Xperia Themes”, with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select – more on this soon…
The latest Android security enhancements, matched with Sony’s mobile enterprise solution: Xperia in Business
Battery STAMINA Mode – updated version of Sony’s power management app, now with refreshed interface and more smart options for prolonging battery life
Increased user control for Xperia Tablet Z, with “Restricted Profiles”; option to create isolated, secure spaces with individual local storage, home screens, widgets and settings
As we stated above the update will take a little bit of time to reach everyone, but don’t give up hope that your device might get it today or tomorrow. Just check the “software update” section every few hours or so and maybe you’ll get lucky. Now that a few more of Sony’s devices will be updated to the newest version of Jelly Bean, the next order of business could very well be working on getting Android 4.4 out to the list of supported devices. Sony usually states this information on their Official Sony Blog, but we have taken the liberty of putting together most of that information for you. Once of the cooler features we think Sony has added into the mix for these devices is the Smart Social Camera, which you can take a peek at in the video below. Now to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the benefits of Project Butter.http://youtu.be/rIdpUy69uSw
