Of all the manufacturers that are out there that make Android devices, there are a few that stand out from the pack for a number of reasons. You might take build quality into higher consideration than other users, or maybe you are more of a person that likes to be on the latest version of Android as soon as possible? There are Android devices out there for basically every kind of individual that should cater to your needs, and that’s part of the beauty of Android. Sony has been a leader in build quality for a while now, but has recently also stepped up its update game. We saw back in late November that Sony was planning on updating a large number of devices, bring them up to either Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or Android 4.4 KitKat depending on when the device was released. Quite a few Sony devices received their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates over the Holidays, but there were a few that were notably missing their promised updates, namely the Xperia T, TX, V and SP.

These devices all launched with either Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and have received some significant updates that many other phones would be jealous of. Sony has tweeted out that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for these 4 devices is in fact in the final phases of testing and should be rolling out here very soon, with late January or early February as the current timeline. Android 4.3 brings about a number of incredibly important features to your Xperia phones, most of all is probably Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy which opens the pathway to get all sorts of smart wearable devices like smartwatches, health fitness bands and plenty of others like we saw at CES 2014. That’s not all though, since these devices are still on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean you’ll see more new features like lockscreen widgets, expandable notifications and of course the new quick settings that were introduced in Android 4.2. Will any of these 4 phones receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update? While it’s still listed as “under investigation” on Sony’s official support page, I wouldn’t hold your breath for actually receiving one. For now be happy with all the new features you’ll be getting very soon!
