Toshiba’s first Android tablet attempt, the Folio 100, never made it to the US after getting very lackluster reviews and suffering from very high return rates. I doubt that either of those will be an issue for the new Toshiba Regza, a 10.1″ Honeycomb powered tablet. From my first glance this should be a contender among Honeycomb tablets.Â
The wide screen Regza sports a 10.1″, 1280×800 adaptive display, LED backlight, a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It also features what appears to be a textured back cover which may make holding the device a little less than comfortable.
Feature highlights:
- Android 3.0 Honeycomb
- 10.1-inch LCD @ 1,280—800 resolution
- LED backlight
- Tegra 2 (1GHz) CPU
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB internal memory
- IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
- 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera
- HDMI, SD, mini USB, USB
- Regza Apps Connect
- 7 hour battery life
One of the more interesting thing to me is the Regza Apps Connect feature. It has been rumored that Toshiba is planning their own apps, video, music and books stores and the Apps Connect feature should in theory work like Apple Airplay and allow the Regza tablet to share content across a wide range of devices.Â
The device stacks up against the currently available Motorola Xoom, but with a rumored release date in June with a $700 price tag the Toshiba Regza AT300 might fall a little flat.
