For those of us in the UK and in possession of either the HTC Desire HD or Incredible S you should be seeing the update to Gingerbread or Android 2.3. UK Vodafone customers have had the update for little over a week now, beating un-branded / locked versions to the party which is for a network locked phone unusual.
However it’s here and to check if you haven’t had the notification go to menu>settings>about phone>system software updates and tapo the check now box. You’re going to be downloading just over 100 MB of data so a WI-FI connection will be of real benefit as will a decent amount of juice in your battery, at least half full or empty depending on which way you are inclined.
With the update to Gingerbread you should see an improvement in power consumption, user interface improvements,one-touch word selection copy and paste and a new keyboard if you aren’t using an alternative such as Swype or Swift Key. Developers will have seen  new  features too. It’s as we know been out for a while, the Nexus S hit the floor running with the Gingerbread as do some of the newer phones that are out in the hands of very happy owners.  If you want to see a full run down of what Gingerbread will bring to you please head over to the Android developers site here
