Owners of the Verizon version of the HTC One will be very pleased to know that the much delayed Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rollout is finally in the works and is slated to finally rollout “early next week“. The update was originally slated to be rolled out during the last week of October 2013, in accordance with HTCs plans to upgrade all HTC One devices which were tied to the other US carriers. However the update got stuck up in technical snags and was held up at Verizon’s end for technical approvals. HTC had then put the update for the Verizon HTC One on hold indefinitely.
The news was released on Twitter by Mohammad Versi, Executive Director of Product Management at HTC. He tweeted – “VzW HTC One Owners: We have received Technical Approval from Verizon on the 4.3 MR! We expect the OTA to start early next week! Thank You!” With this news coming in, owners of the red HTC One – which is a Verizon exclusive device – would be pretty excited indeed.
While the HTC One Google Play edition (GPe) is being updated to Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat along with Sense 5.5, the Verizon HTC One will not be receiving HTC Sense 5.5. It has been clarified by Mohammad Versi – on twitter again – that the Verizon HTC One will remain on the HTC Sense 5.0. Apparently HTC will be releasing Sense 5.5 only with the Android 4.4 Kit Kat updates. HTC had earlier stated that the Android 4.4 Kit Kat updates for the US Carrier brand HTC One devices will be would be rolling out some time in January 2014, and presently HTC sees no reason that the update for the Verizon HTC One would be delayed. We hope so too that the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update does not run into any technical snag. It must be noted though that the HTC One was launched with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board.
Do you own a Verizon HTC One and you’re happy with the 4.3 update, or would you have liked it better if HTC had updated your device directly to Android 4.4 Kit Kat? Do let us know in the comments below.
